company history

When Tornisìa first started out in business in 1998, it reflected a very specific choice, that of bringing people back to cultivate the land while applying today’s technology to the process. This was to be done with full respect for traditional practices, but with an awareness of future needs, of innovative methods and improved quality. Today, Tornisìa is an expression of the total renewal of an olive growing culture in Sicily. Our farm spreads over 150 hectares along the valley of the Pollina river, in the heart of the Madonie mountains. Originally, the land belonged to the Benedictine Monks, who had their monastery here and referred to the area as the “Golden Valley of the Madonie”. Our olives are cultivated in keeping with traditional methods, while integrating what is most innovative and revolutionary in agriculture. Since the year 2000, thirty hectares of new intensive agriculture, using the best domestic varieties of olive, are being cultivated alongside forty hectares of extensive agriculture, with century-old olive trees bearing traditional local varieties of fruit.
